An Architect’s Views from Venice

I recently returned from Venice and am eager to return to this city of delightful details.

  • Giant door knocker on weathered door.
  • Back canal with work boats and gondolas.
  • Cappuccino machine designed by Dr. Who.
  • View through the window grille at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum.
  • A lovely arcade adapted for housing.

In contrast, the acres of Biennale Architectura exhibits were full of esoteric design theory and occasional beauty but were of limited use to a practicing architect.
