In 2024, The Aman Memorial Trust and the Town of Bladensburg, MD contracted Encore Sustainable Architects to explore the feasibility and stimulate funding of the adaptive re-use of the Bostwick House to a Community Events Center with facilities to promote local events and heritage tourism. The property will host business, community, and organizational meetings as well as receptions and weddings.  In addition, offices and/or storage will be created. While the property will be adapted to new uses, there is also the need to stabilize and preserve this significant historic resource.

Built in 1746 on a challenging, hilly, rural site, the Bostwick House is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is currently owned by the Town of Bladensburg, an urban landscape next to Washington, DC. The 7.7 acre property features the 4,500 sq ft main house, and outbuildings including a stable, chicken coop, windmill and bank barn.

The team has performed measured drawings, and we are now in the middle of Schematic Design.

The client team includes Michelle Bailey-Hedgepeth, Town Administrator of Bladensburg, and Sam Parker and John Sower of the Aman Memorial Trust.
