Private Residence
WASHINGTON, D.C.
This Washington, DC townhouse was transformed into a three-story unit with views focused on the sky and garden. The interplay of virtual cylinders and spheres define the edges of openings and the indoor-outdoor pond. The HVAC ductwork was hidden in the restored Victorian front parlors but celebrated in the renovated rear. Unusual features include the ceramic floor tile that climbs the walls and the beaded-board oak ceiling that hovers overhead. The project was the recipient of an AIA/DC design award.
